Hi Kids!  I am in a swelter stairwell again, but wanted to connect with you!  (I'll skype again before I leave, so if any of you get this, I'll probably be here for another 1/2 hour.
We think of you pray for you and love you so much.  Tonight we came to the temple for a fireside of Elder Craig Zwick of the missionary department of the church.  He and his wife praised the senior couples, they have been on church assignments for 18 years!  Imagine them, they need the praise.  He is here to do some mission presidents seminars in this area this week.  He told some marvelous stories:  Just quick:
He sits every Wednesday with the Quorum of the 12 member to decide where to send missionaries, to give them their call.  He said they usually have 20 senior couples a week.  The last year they have had 75 to 80 a week.  He said the Lord is inspiring couples to serve.  More important, he said they usually have 600 to 800 young missionaries who have sent in their papers for the week.  The week after conference.  They had 2000 missionary applications!  The following week they had 5000 youth who want to serve the Lord.  He said, where are they going to put them.  They have lots to do.  He said the earth will be flooded with the word of the Lord!!
He told of he and his wife picking up President Hinckley in England and President Hinckley had just lost Marjorie a little before.  He was all alone as to family, and he wanted to ride to the Preston Temple.  He said arrangements were made for him to stay there.  President Hinkley wanted to drive to where he had served a mission.  He went with a driver the next morning, then told the Zwicks when he got back that he drove to the very spot where he had served before when he was so discouraged and wanted to quit.  He said he was feeling like that again and needed that buoying up.  He said a young lady greeted him, he said about his age and let him see the old room, but to not mess up the bed.
Elder Zwick said we all need that sometime, just an uplift.  He said President Hinckley went on for four more years after that and did amazing things.  One of them is Preach My Gospel book.  He said the apostles are in this book.  He said Neal A. Maxwell did the 6th Chapter, and David B. Haight did chapters 8 and 9 and then the Lord took him.
I wanted to share that with you.  This morning we drove 50 minutes to the little chapel where we were assigned, past banana plants.  About a third as tall as a palm tree.  They have big flat leaves that hang like on a palm tree, and then big bunches of bananas.   The sister missionaries are sitting outside (cooler outside than in).  They arrived early to tell us that in a little while a bus and the members would arrive so we could all go to a district conference at another building.  We rode, 3 in a seat in an old bus, a guagua and arrived, our Mission President spoke as well as Devon Cornish of the Seventy who is 1st counsellor in the area presidency.  I sat by his wife.  She said if she sits on the stand, they want her to speak,  and she doesn't speak Spanish.   Anyway, it's been a fun day, baked brownies after a fashion (the batter comes out tipped to one side after it's baked, because the new oven put in wasn't leveled.)  We cloroxed potatoes and boiled them and washed and baked our first chicken.  It tasted a little like home.  Anyway,,,,,,we love you so very much!!!  Mom & Dad
