DR Currency / email exchange

Thanks Ellen!  The 20 pesos bill is the prettiest I think.  We work with a lot of money in the petty cash paying bills like today, 8,000 for the guaguas or buses to bring the missionaries for the Christmas Conference (they don't say party.)  We take it from the petty cash or caja chica and give it to the AP's who actually contract them to pick up and drop off.  Today was half the mission Christmas conference, so the office elders used the petty cash for supplies to make ornaments for the Christmas tree--250 little pictures mounted on red heavy poster board. We helped them string yarn through a paper punch hole, haul the tree from our foyer to the chapel in our truck (a sheet wrapped around it, then the ornaments were hung on the tree by the stage.  We bought garbage bags for the cleanup, etc.  (We donated the round red and green tablecloths, but the other expenses will come in with either a petty cash reimbursement or they used the credit card and will hand us the receipts.
The other bills are 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 in a pretty pink, and 2000 which is green.  40 pesos equal a dollar.  The Christmas dinner for 250 missionaries and a few extras was 69,000 pesos.  That we cut a check for.  Anyway, I'm going to bring home one of each bill and mount them.  Thanks for your interest.
Love, Susan ,

Thanks for the update--sound like things are going well and the work goes forward swimmingly. Very exciting for you all.
I got your C'mas card  with the money in it--what kind of note is that? It's very pretty. I've not heard you mention anything about the currency, or dealing with it. Have you found it difficult to use? The card was nice--temple is very pretty and the group looks happy and eager!
Have a great week!
